Russell Falls, Mt Field National Park |
|
|
In a nutshell: Mt Field National Park is a very popular national park, only 55 miles from Hobart. Russell Falls are spectacular all year round and can be viewed after a short walk on flat ground (wheelchair access) through the rainforest. There are spacious picnic grounds under the tree canopy, an interpretation centre and kiosk. You'll find more falls further into the park and many walks of varying lengths. Several companies operate day tours to the park, some in 4WD vehicles that can explore deeper in to the forest. There are several places to stay near the park. Neighbouring Maydena has lovely self contained cabins and further west is Lake Pedder, with a motel at Strathgordon. |
